Let's Run
A poem by Achuthan Panikath

I can’t remember the last time I ran;
Not of need; Neither tardy
Nor to win at the weekly zone 2 game.
When did I last run of joy?
To a beautiful tree or an angelic voice,
To my friend on the other side of the bridge?
Decorum, virtue and that logic drug
Have tied my feet to stylish steps.
Be free, you two, take me in haste.
Let’s chase puddles in the rain.
Run after ripe jackfruits and guitar strums
When our last email leaves the outbox, run.
Don’t walk to the store for beans, we have magic to eat.
We do not have time to just walk our life.
